Exploring the Great Outdoors: The Benefits of Hiking and Yoga
Omayra Hoon
Hiking and yoga, two activities that promote physical and mental well-being, have gained popularity in recent years. Combining the serenity of yoga with the exhilarating experience of hiking can lead to a holistic approach to health. Let’s dive into the benefits of both activities and how they can complement each other.
Hiking is more than just a recreational activity; it’s a way to connect with nature and escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. Here are some key benefits:
1. Physical Fitness: Hiking is a full-body workout that improves cardiovascular health, builds muscle strength, and enhances endurance. The varying terrain challenges your body, boosting your overall fitness levels.
2. Mental Clarity: Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety. The serene environment allows hikers to clear their minds, leading to improved focus and mental clarity.
3. Connection with Nature: Hiking provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural world. This connection can foster a sense of peace and a deeper appreciation for the environment.

moreAstrology is a language of love
Brittany Crystal
Astrology is a language of love. It is a path to self-realization. It is a tool to better understand our celestial makeup and how we interact and relate to others.
My name is Brittany Crystal and I am a Virgo Sun, Cancer Moon, Gemini Rising. I lived a majority my life focusing on my Sun sign, Virgo. I am a granddaughter to two Virgos and even had the same birthday as my late Nana. Virgos have the reputation of being the perfectionist, serving others, tending to the details others miss, and planning like it’s our MO! The description of Virgo always resonated with me, yet little did I know there was so much more to uncover about myself!
In 2020, I had my first natal chart reading while living in Los Angeles with the lovely astrologer, Yazamin Adibi. My session with her helped bring me back to my authentic self after going through a challenging time in my life (known as Saturn Return). Saturn returns to where it was when we were born every 28 years or so and this period can last up to 5 years to get through the lessons of Saturn which involve responsibility, purpose, and legacy. The reading taught me there was so much more than my sun sign and we have all the signs in us in one way or another.
moreMy Journey as a Yoga Teacher: A Path of Growth and Transformation
Omayra Hoon
Becoming a yoga teacher has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life. What started as a personal practice evolved into a passion for sharing the wisdom and benefits of yoga with others. In this blog, I would like to share my journey, the challenges I faced, and the profound lessons I learned along the way.
Finding My Way to Yoga:
My journey began 24 years ago when I was seeking relief from changes in my life. Moving from Puerto Rico with 2 kids to Wa State was a huge change, not only for me but also for Yomalix and Joshua. A friend suggested I try a yoga class, and from the moment I stepped onto the mat, I felt an immediate connection. I honestly did not know what is was, however, I started to feel a sense of peace within the chaos of divorce, new home, new schools, new language, new people and beginning of everything I did not expected to happen in our lives. The combination of breath, movement, and mindfulness resonated deeply within me. With each class, I discovered a sense of peace and clarity that I had been missing. The teachers at the Valley Athletic Club in Olympia, were nice and kind, they encourage me to dive more and perhaps teach.
